Richard Jefferson stumbled upon Velocity Sports Performance Carlsbad and Sports Performance Director Todd Williams at the end of the 2008 off season.  No stranger to performance training, Jefferson was a big believer in what a quality coach and quality training program can do for an athlete at any stage of his career.  He was impressed with Velocity and has been training with Coach Todd ever since returning to San Diego for the off season.

"Todd and I are working on balance, explosiveness, agility and quickness.  I'm getting started early this year and I think it will show in my game," Jefferson said.  Jefferson celebrated his birthday with news of a trade to the Spurs.  It will be his first time playing in the Western Conference and he plans to spend the offseason at Velocity getting ready.

Although Jefferson was impressed by the Velocity facility and coaching, he felt like the basketball hoops could use an upgrade.  In an act of quiet generosity, he simply made arrangements to have new hoops installed and an NBA three point line added to the court.

After he finishes his workouts with Williams and other Velocity coaches, including former NFL corner and Velocity owner, Charles Dimry, Jefferson takes to the court and makes use of the new NBA hoop he had installed.  "I'm like a kid in a candy store here at Velocity," Jefferson says with a smile.  He keeps that smile on his face while playing games of horse or just shooting around with high school and middle school athletes training at Velocity.  Sometimes he even joins a high school training group.  "High school kids here are lucky to have the opportunity to train at Velocity.  I hope that high school players (from around San Diego) will take advantage of the opportunity and also take advantage of these great hoops here."

"RJ jumps in and trains with the high school kids then spends some time shooting around with them.  His work ethic and character are a great example for the young athletes here at Velocity," says owner, Charles Dimry.

It takes a quality guy to celebrate his birthday by giving a gift to others.
