We have all been told to “Sit up straight” or “Don’t slouch your shoulders” at some point in our lives, usually by our Parents. It turns out they were teaching us to improve our posture. Poor posture can be an indicator of a weak core. Our core muscles surround and support our spine and are responsible for maintaining good posture. As parents, we have an overwhelming desire to give to our children.  When they hit preschool age we begin to receive invitations to have them join a baseball team or a soccer program.  As other kids join, we don’t want ours to miss out so we sign up too. We have all the best intentions but we may not consider whether our child is ready to play.  Unfortunately, there is not a sports readiness exam the way there is a kindergarten readiness exam.  No one outlines the basic skills necessary to...
