Kevin Trapp
Position: Sports Performance CoachBiography
Coach Trapp, a Charlotte, NC native attended Myers Park High School where he achieved 4 Southwestern 4A Conference titles, 2 time All-State honors, 3 time All-Conference honors, and a birth to the Oasis Shrine Bowl as a goalkeeper. He grew up playing for Charlotte Soccer Club where they earned 4 State Cup titles, 2 Region III titles, and was a National Finalist; as well as a starter on the North Carolina State ODP and Region III ODP team. He went on to attend James Madison University where he was a 4-year starter and set a JMU Freshman Shutout record and ranked 2nd in JMU Career Shutout Records of all time. He led the Colonial Athletic Association for three years running for GAA as well as the NCAA. He earned two NCAA playoff births, and was named JMU’s Defensive MVP 2 years in a row. He graduated with in BA in Kinesiology with a concentration in Sports Management. Coach Trapp, was drafted in the 3rd round of the MISL to the Detroit Ignition, and was the 1st to sign with the Western Mass Pioneers, a USL-2 team of Springfield, MA. There he became a 1st year starter and led the league in Saves (107) as well as games and minutes played. He received three time USL-2 weekly honors and an All-Rookie mention. He currently is the goalkeeper for the Charlotte Eagles who made it to the 2008 National Finals.
Coach Trapp grew up coaching youth goalkeepers as both a private instructor and for Charlotte Soccer Club, which is what brought him to Velocity. Kevin strives to build Velocity Sports Performance athletes so that they can get to the next level on and off the field.
