Biography
Velocity Sports Performance is proud to have as their Sports Performance Director, John McCallister. Coach McCallister received his B.S. and M.S. of Science in Physical Education with Emphasis in Athletic Coaching and Strength and Conditioning from West Virginia University in 2002.John was the assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at West Virginia University until January 2004. This experience led John to Mississippi State University where he was the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for Baseball and Softball and the assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for Football. John has worked with three Master Strength Coaches at these elite universities (Doug Elias, Allan Johnson and Ben Pollard).
Some of the highlights of John’s career so far include:
At WVU – Coached the 2002 Continental Tire Bowl and 2004 Toyota Gator Bowl football teams, coached 28 professional football athletes and 7 professional baseball athletes
At Mississippi State- coached 2007 Liberty Bowl Champion football team, coached 2007 Super Regional Champion and College World Series participant baseball team that finished 8th in the national ranking, coached Johnny Bench Award winner (as the best catcher in the country) Edward Easley, coached Detroit Tiger baseball player Marcus Thames and since 2004 has coached 54 professional athletes (27 football, 24 baseball and 3 softball).
As Sports Performance Director, John will have an opportunity to train under some of the greats in the athletic performance training field within the Velocity system and will be in charge of implementing this scientifically proven athletic enhancement program in the Greensboro location. John will work with Velocity’s student athletes (ages 7-20), adult athletes and elite professional athletes.
