Adam Cretti

Biography
Coach Cretti was born and raised in Novato, California where he developed his passion for sports. He started coaching high-level athletes over 10 years ago while he was a captain of the UCSB Track and Field team where he competed in the Shot Put and Hammer Throw. After Coach Cretti completed his undergraduate work, he moved to San Diego to train as an Olympic Weightlifting competitor under the tutelage of renowned Olympic Weightlifting coach Mike Burgener. During his tenure in San Diego he not only garnered a 12th place finish at USA Weightlifiting’s National Championships in 2000, he also was instrumental in helping Coach Burgener prepare several weightlifting competitors for national and international competitions.
In August of 2000, Coach Cretti was recruited by the Strength and Conditioning staff of University Texas, El Paso to be a Graduate Assistant. While he was there, Coach Cretti helped with the day to day strength and conditioning of the 2000 WAC Championship Football team culminating in an appearance in the 2000 Humanitarian Bowl in Boise, Idaho. He also oversaw the athletic performance needs of both men’s and women’s Golf teams. In the Spring of 2001 Coach Cretti joined the ranks of the UCLA Strength and Conditioning staff where he was the head strength and conditioning coach for Baseball, Men’s and Women’s Volleyball, Water Polo, Track and Field, Golf and Cross Country. He also, assisted with Football, Softball and Men’s and Women’s Basketball. Over 100 athletes that worked with Coach Cretti at UCLA went on to compete in the Olympics in 2004, 2008, 2002 and most recently in 2006. Many more enjoyed success at the professional levels of the NFL, MLB, NBA, AVP, USATF and PGA. In 2002, Cal State Northridge, hired Coach Cretti away from UCLA to be the first Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Matadors. From 2002-2004 Coach Cretti oversaw all aspects of strength and conditioning for all of CSUN’s 18 varsity teams.
Coach Cretti began his tenure with Velocity Sports Performance in the Fall of 2004 as a Sports Performance Coach. He quickly rose through the ranks earning an offer to be an SPD and leading his own facility in the Spring of 2005. Coach Cretti was an SPD for 3 years before moving on to his current role of Team Performance Director. Coach Cretti, is also the Athletic Performance Director for Mater Dei High School where he oversees the athletic performance needs of all the athletes that attend MDHS. Coach Cretti has been the Speed, Strength and Conditioning Coordinator for the Mater Dei High School football team for the past 3 years.
