Scot Long
Position: Exercise Physiologist, Performance CoachBiography
Scot is regarded in Jackson as a leading expert in the field of Sports Science. He earned his Masters Degree in Exercise Physiology from the United States Sports Academy and is pursuing his PhD in Human Performance from the University of Southern Mississippi.
He has been a National Faculty Professor for the United States Sports Academy, where he taught Strength and Conditioning in England, Spain, Taiwan and Thailand. He interned one year at Brunel University in London, England as an Exercise Physiology Laboratory Research Assistant.
Long was formerly an Instructor of Sports Medicine/Exercise Science at Belhaven College, a Director of Corporate Wellness at Metro area Jackson YMCA facilities, an Exercise Physiologist for the Baptist Healthplex and a Strength and Conditioning Coach at Mississippi College. He also hosted both a weekly TV Fitness Segment on WLBT Mid-Day MS for 2.5 years and Radio Fitness shows for 5 years on ESPN Radio and Life Change. He currently writes a weekly fitness/health newspaper column for the Clarion Ledger as well as a monthly for Metro Christian Living magazine.
Scot is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (CSCS), a Certified Personal Training Instructor through AFAA and YMCA and a Certified Personal Trainer through ACSM, NSCA, NASM, AFAA, ACE, NAP, PACE and YMCA. He is currently an instructor of Kinesiology at Mississippi College.
