Biography

2007 HIGHLIGHTS: Had one catch each in Games 1-3 ... No catches Oct. 1 vs. New England, but tied for special-teams tackles lead with two ... Had his first multi-catch game (3-for-24) on Nov. 4 at Buffalo, and threw one of the key clearing blocks on Glenn Holt's 100-yard kickoff return ... On Dec. 9, vs. St. Louis, had a key downfield block on DeDe Dorsey's 45-yard rushing gain in the second quarter ... Had season-long receiving gain of 25 yards on Dec. 15 at San Francisco, helping set up a field goal with a gain to the Niners 29 ... Tied for team lead with two special-teams tackles on Dec. 23 vs. Cleveland ... On Dec. 30 vs. Miami, had season-high 38 receiving yards on three receptions, including a tied-for-season-long 25-yarder.
 
COLLEGE HIGHLIGHTS: Coats was a reliable receiver and powerful blocker for four seasons (2003-06) in one of the nation's most consistently productive offenses ... Played in 46 of a possible 48 games, with 86 receptions for 966 yards and nine TDs ... As a senior, provided key blocking for the nation's fourth-ranked offense, whose 465.5-yard average output included 141.9 yards rushing and 323.5 yards passing ... Had 22 receptions for 239 yards with two TDs as a senior ... Caught 21 passes for 189 yards as a junior and 13 passes for 160 yards as a sophomore, and in 2003, his 30-for-378 performance with four TDs helped him earn Freshman All-America honors from The Sporting News ...
