He was selected to compete in the 2007 Rookie Challenge during All-Star Weekend in Las Vegas where he led the team in scoring (22 points) and rebounding (8). His 183 offensive rebounds rank second on all-time Jazz rookie ledger, and his 74 blocks rank fourth in the Jazz rookie record books.
Paul was an early entry candidate for the 2006 NBA Draft following three seasons at Louisiana Tech (2003-06) where he averaged 18.6 points, 12.7 rebounds, 1.99 blocks and 1.32 steals. He became the only player in NCAA Division I history to lead the nation in rebounding in three consecutive years and only the fifth player ever to win consecutive rebounding titles.
