This fall, 6 dedicated members of the Mahwah High School Girls Basketball team, made the commitment to train together in preparation for the upcoming winter season. The athletes are Lindsay Mohre (senior), Courtney Spizzo (senior), Kara Batelli (Junior), Gabrielle Fingerhut (sophomore), Alison Surich (sophomore), and Casey Culloty (sophomore). Most of these girls play 2 sports, but thier schedules were free this fall. Last year the team made it to the
Bergen
County
tournament but was unable to get to the states. This year their goals are higher and these girls are putting out the effort to help the team get their. Their class was basketball specific and worked on vertical jump technique, jump height, and movement, movement, movement. The girls feel their greatest gains were made in acceleration technique, strength, and overall conditioning. Over the past 2.5 months their attendance was almost perfect and they supported and motivated each other during the workouts. This dedication to improving their athleticism as well as their positive attitude made these 6 girls an easy choice for the Velocity Sports Performance November DII athletes of the month.
