ACL Return-to-Speed

The Velocity ACL Return-to-Speed program will benefit athletes to help regain functional independence. After completing ACL rehab with a physical therapist, athletes are still not ready to return to their sport. This program bridges the gap between being functional and being ready to play a sport with confidence. Each session is personalized to the client's injury and rehabilitation status providing a step-by-step progression with each stage becoming more challenging. Athletes train with one of our certified Sports Performance Coaches 2 to 3 days per week for 4 to 8 weeks.

There are 4 major components to the ACL Return-to-Speed Program:

1. Dynamic Warm-up.
Designed to improve overall body conditioning, coordination, stability and flexibility, and aid the athlete in re-learning proper jumping and running biomechanics.

2. Balance Training and Proprioception.
Kinesthetic awareness, or the ability to know where your body parts are in 3-dimensional space, is required for every movement we make. Balance training will help athletes minimize vulnerable positions by teaching their muscles to fire sequentially to produce the desired movement.

3. Movement Patterns.
The critical factor is to teach athletes the proper technique in cutting and jumping maneuvers - lower one's center of gravity, increase knee flexion, and land with a soft contact.

4. Strength Training and Plyometrics.
This personalized strength program will to target the hip girdle, hamstrings, quadriceps, and abdominals. Plyometrics are used to improve neuromuscular efficiency and explosiveness needed for running and jumping.
