Team Selection
Players recruited into the program will be selected by Coach Groharing and the team coaches prior to the parent meetings.  Team selection will also be done by Coach Groharing and the team coaches the 2nd week of practice.  Levels with multiple teams will have a Red (A) and Black (B) team.  Players and teams are selected based on a mix that the coaches’ feel will create the most competitive teams.  Player’s skills, athleticism, size, and position played are all factors.  One of the goals of the program is to produce teams that are able to compete at a high level; by establishing a Red (A) and Black (B) team this opportunity is created.  It is also the goal to develop the players and teams on a continuing basis each year so that both teams are equal by the time they enter high school and competing at the National level.

Play Time – Equal play time is not guaranteed.  All players will be given the opportunity to play and improve.

Practice - This is an (11) week program, that starts the 1st of Nov and ends the 2nd week of Feb.  Time is taken off for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years.  There will be (2) 1.5 hour practices per week.  Practices will be conducted at local gyms and at the Velocity Center in Warrenville, IL.  If a player is unable to attend a practice they must contact their coach prior to the start of practice.  Velocity understands that school commitments must come first, however, in consideration of other players and coaches we look to recruit players who can participate in the majority of the practices and tournaments.

Games - Each team will participate in 8 travel tournaments.  Tournaments will be no further than 1.5 hrs from the Velocity center.  Tournaments take place on the weekend and can include 3 – 8 games. Most tournaments list the dates ahead of time as Friday – Sunday, players must plan on these dates until a schedule is received from the tournament which is often the Tues. – Wed. prior to the weekend.  Players are expected to turn in any conflicting dates as soon as the schedule is released or as soon as the conflict arises.  In the event numerous players will be missing, the tournament will be re-scheduled if possible.  Again, Velocity understands that school commitments must come first, however, in consideration of other players and coaches we look to recruit players who can participate in the majority of the practices and tournaments.

Coach - Teams will be coached by qualified coaches employed by Velocity Sports Performance.  Coach Dave Groharing is the director of coaches and will spend time with each team.

Sports Performance Training - Four months of unlimited sports performance training is also included in this program.  Players are required to participate in a training session at a time convenient to them no less than one time per week and encouraged to participate 2 - 3 times if possible.  The sports performance training will improve each player’s over all athleticism that will be beneficial in all sports they play and help with their speed and explosiveness on the court.  Training also includes Sparq Testing and Regeneration Program.

Parent Meeting - Mandatory parent meetings will be held on Tues., 10/14 from 6pm - 7pm for 5th, 7th, & 8th Grade Boys, Thurs., 10/16 from 6pm - 7pm for 6th Grade Boys & 7th & 8th Grade Girls.  Players and parents are expected to attend.
