Mikhael Ricks uses 7 years of NFL experience to prepare future pros.
Every year in February, some of the NFL's hottest prospects are invited to
Because of this, Velocity owner Charles Dimry partnered with NFL Combine prep guru, Doug Hix, to launch Pro Prep training in 2008. This year, Pro Prep athletes posted outstanding NFL Combine reulsts. Highlights include Simoni Lawrence who had the 2nd highest vertical leap of all linebackers and was one of the 10 fastest linebackers as well; Kyle Bosworth who recorded the 2nd fastest 3 cone and shuttle times among linebackers, drills that measure a linebackers athleticism better than any other; Jeff Byers who was the 6th strongest lineman; and Jared Perry who was in the top 10 among wide receivers in the broad jump and 3 cone drill which measures a receivers ability to run a direction changing route at high speeds.
Equally important, all Pro Prep athletes received excellent feedback on their execution of the position specific football drills thanks in large part to careful instruction by NFL veterans Charles Dimry and Mikhael Ricks. Jared Perry demonstrated great hands in the gauntlet and other wide receiver drills and Kyle Bosworth was complimented for his great feet in the defensive football drills.
Last year's NFL draft class featured 5 of the fastest running backs at the NFL Combine including Ian Johnson who posted the 2nd fastest RB time and RB Javon Ringer who posted the fastest shuttle time of the year. Hix' longevity in preparing NFL prospects for the biggest job interview of their life matches Dimry's longevity in the League. The combination creates excellent results in the performance drills and position drills that make up the NFL Combine and various college pro days. Hix is credited with preparing over 100 NFL players including former first round picks Ben Roethlisberger, Bryant Johnson, Joey Harrington, TJ Duckett and Rob Thomas.
