FOCUS - Mental Skills Conditioning

FOCUS - Mental Skills Conditioning

Many individuals want to improve their speed, power, and agility to become better overall athletes.  Those physical skills can be trained and developed.  What most people don't know is that mental skills can also be trained and developed.  Dr. Michael Gervais of Pinnacle Performance has teamed up with Velocity Sports Performance to provide all of our athletes with FOCUS - Mental Skills Conditioning.  The focus is to establish an integrated program which develops both mental and physical skills. The purpose of mental skills training is to provide young athletes the tools to thrive under pressure, as well as to expand awareness of where and how mental skills can be developed.   Athletes will learn the many elements to become a better athlete; goal - setting, breathing and centering, positive self- talk, control, and vision.

Mental Skills versus Sports Psychology: Psychologist is a legal term meaning the practitioner is licensed to handle sport performance and clinical issues. Mental Skills Coaches are certified through Pinnacle Performance to deal solely with sport relative mental skills. It is important to note that Mental Skills Coaches are not Sports Psychologist.
