Velocity Testimonials
-My son's been going for almost a year now and he absolutely loves it. He's always motivated to go and it's not only helped him on the ice, but it's helping at home becuase he gets his homework done more quickly and effectively after he's worked out. My daughter who was at first skeptical is now hooked and has been going for a few months. She feels she's much stronger on the ice now and also believes her skating has improved due to improvements in her overall athleticism.
-I started at Velocity in August, and I absolutely love the program. The workouts are great and keep me wondering what the next night's workout is going to be! I enjoy how challenging the workouts are because it always feels so good that I made it through! The coahces are very knowledgeable and are great motivators throughout the workout. I really enjoy the adult fitness program and I find that it has given me more energy during the day and has helped me to shed some unwanted pounds and tone up. Thanks so much! :)
-Recently, I enjoyed a month of training at Velocity Sports Performance in Redondo Beach. I won the free 1 month membership in a raffle. Yay me! :)
-Velocity is not your ordinary gym. It's not even your ordinary personal training center. Its all of that and more. The goal at Velocity is to make the trainees better athletes no matter what the sport. All of their exercises are geared towards making you stronger, better, faster...kinda like that Kanye song. Ha!
Anyway, I quickly found out that their workouts were very different from anything I had experienced. The warm up is about 15 to 20 minutes long and consists of any number of activities including jump rope drills, sprints, stretches, and my favorite: hand walks. It took the entire month for me to get through the warm up without asking "are we done!?".
After warming up, the instructor leads the class through more drills depending on the focus for the day. Each class includes a weight lifting exercise (lots of power squats!) and a fitness drill like making jumps higher or getting sprints quicker. I like the variety because each class is different.
I also like the class sizes. Its not like a gym where there may be 20-30 people in your class. Each adult class is limited to 8. I went to classes at Noon and the biggest class I saw then was 4. This provided for lots of one-on-one attention from the instructor.
Oh, the facility is cool too with about 40 yards of astro-turf marked out like a football field, all indoors. I ran up and down that field many times carry weights, jumping rope, squatting, and many more heinous activities that whippped my butt into shape. They also have a track, a small basket ball court, and an weight room. Locker rooms too with lockers and a shower.
In a nutshell, Velocity trains you like the pros. If you ever wondered what spring training was like, stop in for a free demo and you'll find out very quickly! Seriously, after a month at Velocity, ANY class at my regular gym is cake.
