Rashan Gilmore is in 6th grade and currently attends Longfellow Elementary School in Mount Vernon, NY. Rashan will be traveling to Kenya for 12 days under the Oprah Angel's Network program along with 12 additional 5th and 6th graders. They were selected for their academic and leadership ability. Rashan participates in the Mt.Vernon Little League and his position is short stop and pitcher, He is a 4x all-star and a member of the American League Travel team; he also plays football for the New Rochelle Pop Warner League. This past season he was co-captain of the team and played the position of running-back and defensive back. Rashan has been an active member of Velocity Sports Performance since December 2008. He stated that since joining Velocity he has become a much better, all-around athlete.
