Biography
Chris earned his bachelor’s degree from Brown University where he played rugby and, as captain, led the team to a standing of 15th
in the national rankings. He spent nine years in the U.S. Marine Corps,
where he distinguished himself as boxer and an infantry officer. After
earning a master’s degree in history from Duke University, Chris became
a tenured teacher at New Rochelle High School where he enjoyed
mentoring students in the classroom and as a varsity rugby coach. He
began his career as an athletic trainer three years ago at New York
Sports Club and, later, at the Greenwich Water Club where he worked
primarily with rowers and lacrosse players. When Chris isn’t in the gym
preaching the gospel of improved human movement, he’s on the water
exemplifying it. A lifelong ‘waterman,’ Chris has worked as
professional salvage diver, licensed professional captain, third mate
aboard a 12-meter America’s Cup boat, and has been an avid surfer for
six years. Now he surfs year round in Rockaway, New York, and has
traveled to surf in Bali, Mexico, California, and all along the east
coast. He is the current serving Chair of the New York City Chapter of
the Surfrider Foundation and also surfs competitively in the Eastern
Surfing Association series (currently holds 2nd
place, NY-Region, Master’s Shortboard Division). He is a member of the
National Strength and Conditioning Association and a National Academy
of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer.
